As we approach a new year of school, we might be inclined to think of how much our children will learn and develop academically but what is even more of a necessity is to consider how we can support our children’s mental health and emotional development.
Here at Mindful Magic Southend & Leigh, the intention is to firstly create more awareness of all feelings and normalise them through engaging activities.
The effects of children being told to ‘be seen but not be heard’ are still rampant and being passed on even in this so-called modern generation. Being told to ‘not worry’, ‘it will be alright’, ‘just go and play’ are dismissive and undermining. Punishment is still being put before communication and validation.
Which also brings us to the mental state of the care givers of our children, both at home and at school. Practicing mindfulness at regular intervals during the day is a must to firstly check in and then regulate our emotions yet how many adults actually get or make the opportunity to do this.
We must find a way in this modern, busy world to create space for ourselves without anything being required. No box to tick. Just space to breath and re-connect.
We need to learn to under-stimulate ourselves, create more with our hands, be more ok with quietness, nature and have less time at a desk, more time at just ‘being’.
Mindfulness has never been so important and so exciting to impart. I feel so passionate to impart beautiful mindfulness tools. They will never go out of fashion. They are the key to self-love and self-preservation.
Mindfulness is simple whilst simple living is being forgotten.
